Suspension Appeals
Posted By: Head Convenor

A couple reminders about appeals

- Suspension can be appealed by the Team rep only. This is done via email with any information that the rep would like the league to consider. Teams reps are asked to wait at least 12 hrs after the game before filing an appeal. (It takes longer to actually issue the suspension)

- There is no face to face appeals and team reps cannot appeal a suspension decision for a player not on their roster. (ie. Appeal an opposing player's suspension so it is longer)

- The appeals process takes a while so suspensions of under 5 games cannot be appealed.

- The only reasons a suspension would be reduced is if;
    - the referee decides there was a mistake with the official game record.
- another off  ice or on ice official provides new information that was not considered at the time the suspension was given out.
- if the referee suggests that the suspension is too harsh for the infraction.
- there was an error in the application of the league rules when the suspension was issued

- In the event, a player was suspend under rule which provides the Head of Discipline the authority to suspend within a range of games, then the appeal will likely be reviewed by an independent person appointed at the beginning of the season.

- The governing and overruling principle in all discipline rulings will the be safety of current and future players

- When requesting an appeal a player must be aware that they may received a longer suspension or fine if new information is discovered. Such as, but not limited to;
- past history of dangerous play
- physical or verbal abuse of officials (on or off ice)
- actions during the game that were not previously reported.
- if the players refuses to leave the ice or their poor conduct off the ice once removed
- damage to private or city property
- etc

Rosters

Thursday, September 07, 2017

The annual audit of team rosters will start likely next week (Monday).

1) Please remember that all teams are only allowed one player on their roster that is also playing on a second team in a higher division. There is no cap for on the number of guys playing on a second team that is in a lower division.

In the event that you have more than one player that is playing on a second team in a higher division, then the team rep will be asked to replace the extra players. All of these players will be considered illegal until the roster corrections are made and this may result in forfeiting games played and/or a suspension for the team rep.

There will be no waivers will granted this year!

2) Teams are only allowed 18 players on their roster. Exceptions can be made for this rule in the event of injury and a new player is brought in as a replacement. This will require the permission of the Head Convenor.

3) If player is hurt and will miss several weeks due to injury then please inform the Head Convenor. This player maybe allowed to credit these games towards the playoff requirement of 10 games played. This must be done at the time of injury not just before the playoffs. Please be proactive.

4) Borrowing players (Not Goalies) - Please follow the rules for borrowing player. The main things to remember is that you can only borrow if you have less than 10 skaters and can borrow no more than 3 skaters. You only borrow from a lower division or Gents (with approval). The lowest division can borrow skaters from the division above it. (Players need to be approved) The Gents Division can borrow any player that is over 35 from another division. Players not already members of the league should never be used as a replacement player. Please see the rules for all the details.
